Morocco switches on desalination plant to supply Agadir residents, farmers – Morocco

Morocco has switched on its largest desalination plant in Chtouka Aitbaha, worth $470 million, to serve the water stressed area of Agadir and the farms in its south, the agriculture ministry said.

The plant will have a daily capacity of 400,000 cubic meters of desalinated water and will help save underground water resources.

Nearly 15,000 hectares will now be irrigated by the plant instead of the scarce groundwater resources.

ACCIONA has completed the construction of the SWPC’s Shuqaiq 3 Independent Water Project (IWP) Seawater Reverse Osmosis (SWRO) desalination in Saudi Arabia and it is working at full capacity.

The SWRO plant, of high-energy efficiency, is a key project in the modernization of the water sector that is currently being carried out by Saudi Water Partnership Company (SWPC) of Saudi Arabia.

Ewec’s Taweelah plant to begin early commercial production in Q1 – United Arab Emirates

Taweelah Reverse Osmosis (RO), the world’s largest RO water desalination plant located in Abu habi, will begin early commercial operations in the first quarter of 2022, by providing 100 million gallons per day (MGD), reported WAM, citing a top government official.

Bahri, Metito launch trial ops of first Saudi floating desal plant – Saudi Arabia

The Saudi National Shipping Company (Bahri) has announced the start of the trial operations of the first floating desalination plant set up near Al Shuqaiq port on the western coast of Saudi Arabia at an investment of SR760 million ($202 million).
This comes following an earlier agreement signed with the Saline Water Conversion Corporation (SWCC).
