The Charles E. Meyer Desalination Plant in Santa Barbara, California: A Key Solution to Improving Water Reliability and Resilience in Drought Years – US

To date, DWR has awarded over $82 million in Proposal 1 desalination grants ranging from over $100,000 to $10 million to support 20 projects. Three projects are currently under construction, including the Antioch Brackish Water Desalination Project, the City of Camarillo’s North Pleasant Valley Desalination Project, and the brackish desalter in the city of Santa Monica. Two of the projects will contribute to the Governor’s goal of increasing brackish groundwater desalination production by 28,000 acre-feet per year by 2030.

Abengoa starts up phase two of major desalination project – Abu Dhabi

Abengoa SA (Seville, Spain), in consortium with the company SEPCOIII, has started commercial operation of phase two of the Taweelah desalination plant (Abu Dhabi), following the successful completion of the contractual tests. This is the largest reverse osmosis desalination plant in the world (909,218 m3/day) and the first to combine the production of drinking water with the generation of clean energy. The project is located at the Taweelah power and water generation complex, 45 km north of Abu Dhabi (United Arab Emirates).

Italian group De Nora wins Jubail desal plant upgrade deal – KSA

A specialist in the electrochemical industry and leader in sustainable technologies and in the emerging green hydrogen industry, De Nora said following this Jubail facility will become the largest seawater reverse osmosis (SWRO) desalination plant in the world, producing up to 1 million cu m of seawater per day.
