Aquatech Partners with OXY on One of the Largest Produced Water Treatment Systems in the World

Occidental Petroleum Corporation’s (OXY) Enhanced Oil Recovery Field is located in the south-central area of the Sultanate of Oman, approximately 660 kilometers from Muscat and 560 kilometers from Salalah.

This oilfield was producing approximately 10,000 barrels of oil per day. A project was estalished to increase production to 150,000 barrels per day, to include the addition of a large scale steam flood facility for the recovery of approximately two billion barrels of oil over the life of the project.

Thames Water refreshes plan for Abingdon Reservoir, despite opposition from GARD

GARD chairman Derek Stork, a former nuclear physicist, feared there was now a ‘strong possibility’ that Thames Water will favour the reservoir in its final document.

Writing in a GARD newsletter this month, he said: “They have either ignored, or over-ridden with dubious arguments, the majority of critical comments coming from stakeholders like GARD.

“Other [water] sources are less costly, less damaging to the environment, less disruptive to local communities and more robust against climate change.”

Evoqua Launches Nexed Electrochemical Desalination Demonstration For Brackish Water

The new brackish water installation, which encompasses a 50 gallon per minute Nexed system at the Kay Bailey Hutchison Desalination Plant in El Paso, TX (KBH), builds upon the current Evoqua pilot for seawater desalination underway in Tuas, Singapore. The demonstration will prove out the economics and value proposition of the Nexed technology in comparison to incumbent RO technology with a focus on higher recovery and lower energy consumption. Once the system is fully operational – which is expected in June 2017 — Evoqua and AccelerateH2O will invite stakeholders to visit the site and observe the system and […]

EU and UNICEF inaugurate Gaza’s largest seawater desalination plant

GAZA, 19 January 2017 – Today the European Union and UNICEF officially inaugurated the largest seawater desalination plant built in the Gaza Strip so far.

The €10 million plant, funded by the European Union, has the capacity of producing 6,000 m3 of potable water daily to provide around 75,000 Palestinians with safe drinking water in the southern Gaza Strip—about 35,000 people in Khan Younis and 40,000 people in Rafah.
