Japanese players enter debut facility in Oman.-Japan

A project to build a seawater desalination plant in Oman has secured US$114mn from a number of Japanese banks with cover from Japan’s export credit agency

Nexi.MUFG Bank, SMBC and Shinsei Bank will extend the loan to the Al Asilah Desalination Company in the form of project finance.

Currently under design, the project is expected to launch operations in 2021.

Thereafter it will sell approximately 80,000m³ desalinated water a day for over 20 years to the Oman Power and Water Procurement Company, the single buyer of power and water for all IPP/IWPP projects within the Sultanate of Oman.

Toray creates fibre for purifying blood.-Japan

Japanese fibre manufacturer, Toray, recently announced that it has created a new fibre adsorbent for purifying blood.

The fibre selectively eliminates bio-targets, such as cells and proteins, by controlling the surface morphology and chemical structure of sea-island composite fibre through the application of synthetic fibre spinning technology.

Koch Membrane Systems PURON® MBR Product Selected for one of the Largest MBR Projects in China.

Koch Membrane Systems, Inc. (Koch), a global leader in membrane filtration technologies, announced today its PURON® Membrane Bio-Reactor (MBR) modules have been selected for the Ji’nan Wastewater Treatment Plant I and Plant II Expansion Project.

Each plant will have 100,000 m3/day treating capacity. The site is located in the Shandong province, which is China’s second-most populated province, with over 100 million people.
