Solar technology assists Gaza’s contaminated-water emergency – Jaweb – Gaza

Large-scale desalination plants, funded by international donors and private businesses struggling to mitigate the crisis, are in full swing in the besieged Palestinian enclave.

But a new high-tech effort is coming from an unlikely source: a company based in Israel.

Israel’s crippling 14-year blockade has worsened the water disaster facing Gaza residents, with key materials and equipment needed to produce potable water withheld from the coastal enclave.

Gaza’s energy pioneer keeps Palestinian lights on with affordable solar – Gaza

Having no extra money to take a taxi or ride a bus has never stopped Samar from getting her child to the hospital – it was a matter of keeping her son alive.

Walking under Gaza’s blaring sun or having to contend with stormy weather was just what she had to do.

Because of a lung condition, Samar’s son, aged nine, had to undergo daily oxygen treatments. Doing them at home was risky, as the electricity was too unreliable to trust it with a [

Searching for clean water in Gaza – Gaza

There is no simple narrative about water and sanitation in the State of Palestine. It’s one about Gaza, the West Bank, and multiple contexts within each. But for a child – or a family — it’s access to safe water and sanitation that ultimately matters.

That’s why, after three years working in the State of Palestine, I wanted to reflect on the Water, Sanitation and Hygiene (WASH) story and what UNICEF and partners are doing within the complex challenges.
