Construction of seawater desalination plant to begin in 2018 – Tunisia – Sfax


Next year, construction of the Grand Sfax desalination plant, in the Sfax governorate, will begin.

This was reported by Tunis Agence Presse (TAP) citing Samir Taieb, Tunisia’s minister of Agriculture, Water Resources and Fishery.

The plant will treat daily 200,000 m3 of seawater and be built over 20 hectares in the southern delegation of Sfax. The project is to cost overall 480 million dinars ($197 million) and will be financed with a loan secured from the Japan International Cooperation Agency (JICA). It should be delivered in 2020, according to Taieb.
