Trade bodies suggest desalination plant for Karachi – Karachi – Pakistan

Desalination of seawater in Karachi is the most effective solution to the city’s growing water-shortage problem, stated officials of Korangi Association of Trade and Industry (KATI) and Association of Builders and Developers of Pakistan (ABAD).

The two trade associations held a meeting aimed at finding ways to resolve the water distribution issue in the city.

Meanwhile, issues of supply and billing were also discussed.

NAB takes notice of dysfunctional desalination plants – Pakistan

Taking cognisance of three dysfunctional desalination plants in Pasni, Jewani and Gadani, National Accountability Bureau (NAB) Balochistan Director General Mirza Muhammad Irfan Baig has issued notices to the Balochistan Development Authority (BDA) and others responsible.

BDA had initiated three different projects in Pasni, Jiwani and Dam Jati at a cost of Rs1 billion to address water shortage in the areas, but despite a passage of 12 years the desalination plants are not operational.

Saeed Ghani orders installation of bio-metric system in KDA, LDA – Karachi – Pakistan

“Implementation of bio-metric system will ensure timely attendance in civic entities,” said Sindh Minister for Local Government Saeed Ghani on Friday.

“A bio-metric attendance system should be installed in Karachi Development Authority (KDA), Lyari Development Authority (LDA) within 24 hours,” directed Saeed Ghani. He further said that a report should be submitted to him in this regard.

Minister Saeed Ghani paid surprise visits to the offices of Karachi Development Authority (KDA), Lyari Development Authority (LDA) and Karachi Water and Sewage Board (KWSB) on Friday.
