Kuwait, South Korea trade volume totals USD 14 billion in 2018

The trade volume between Kuwait and South Korea has totaled USD 14 billion in 2018, up by 33 percent, compared to 2017’s, which was divided between USD 12.7 billion as Kuwaiti exports and USD 1.3 billion as South Korean imports.

Kuwaiti exports of crude oil and its derivatives enjoyed the lion’s share of trade exchange with South Korea, especially since the GCC-member state is Seoul’s second-largest energy supplier after Saudi Arabia, said South Korean Embassy in Kuwait on Saturday.

Solar-powered water desalination plant planned on 63ha Kuwait plot – Kuwait

Kuwait plans to launch water desalination projects powered by solar energy on a 63ha plot of land north of Kuwait Bay, according to the director general of Kuwait Institute for Scientific Research, Dr Samira Omar.

A senior Kuwaiti official called on Tuesday for updating water desalination technology in the GCC countries amid ongoing dependence on the water to secure this vital living resource.

Kuwait offers four desalination units to Iraq – Kuwait City- Kuwait

At the discretion of His Highness the Amir Sheikh Sabah Al-Ahmad Al-Jaber Al-Sabah, the State of Kuwait on Monday sent four seawater desalination units to Iraq.

A technical team of the Kuwaiti Ministry of Electricity and Water delivered the units to officials of the Iraqi Ministry of Water Resources at the Kuwaiti-Iraqi border on Monday, the Kuwaiti ministry’s undersecretary Mohammad Bushehri said in a press statement.

The production capacity of the four seawater desalination units amounts to one million imperial gallons, he said.

Kuwait wants private sector firms to submit construction proposals for power and water desalination plants in a bid to reduce state costs and boost competition.

The Kuwait Authority for Partnership Projects (KAPP) has invited local, national, and international companies to issue an expression of interest (EOI) for up to two water and power projects: Al-Khairan Phase 1 and Az-Zour North 2 and 3.
