New desalination units for Sharjah – UAE – Sharjah

The Sharjah Electricity and Water Authority (Sewa) has announced plans to develop desalination plants and transmission and distribution systems to improve water quality in several areas of Sharjah. Sewa added that 83 electronic sensors have been installed to measure water pressure and flow in networks as well as intelligent voice devices to identify water leaks in the transmission and distribution lines as part of the important strategic projects implemented by the Authority, reported Wam, the Emirates official news agency. Sharjah Electricity and Water Authority (SEWA), is taking on the challenge with smart water-storage tanks and utility tracking software




SEWA aims to increase the availability of fresh water from 50 million gallons to 500 million gallons per day over the next five years and save 17 million gallons of water per day from being wasted.
