100 MLD desalination plant to come up at Dahej – Dahej – India

A desalination plant will be commissioned to cater the growing water requirement in the Petroleum Chemicals and Petrochemical Investment Region (PCPIR) located at Dahej.

The plant will draw water from the Arabian Sea, desalinate and purify it to make it potable and suitable for industrial consumption.

Sources in the Gujarat Industrial Development Corporation (GIDC) said that the tender for setting up the plant will soon be floated.

Sindh govt to install 300m gallon desalination plant near Hub – Sindh – Pakistan

The Sindh government on Monday decided to install a 300 million gallon desalination plant.

Hub Power Company (Hubco) proposed that a 300 million gallon desalination plant be installed to deal with Karachi’s water crisis during a meeting chaired by Sindh Chief Minister Murad Ali Shah.

According to authorities, the desalination plant will be installed near Hub.

MRPL’s desalination plant likely to be ready by 2020 – Mangalore – India

Mangalore Refinery and Petrochemicals Ltd (MRPL), which is setting up a water desalination plant near New Mangalore Port in Mangaluru, is expecting it to be ready by 2020.

Speaking to presspersons here, M Venkatesh, Managing Director of the company, said that the desalination plant is under construction.

Initial stages of engineering and tendering activities are going on. He said that the project is on target as of now with mechanical completion by March 2020.

Gwadar start getting clean water after a decade – Quetta – Pakistan

After suffering from the worst kind of water crisis for over a decade where even contaminated water was scarce, the Balochistan government has claimed to have started clean water supply to only two cities.

Preparatory work on State’s first seawater desalination plant starts.-Mangalore

Mangalore Refinery and Petrochemicals Ltd., (MRPL), has begun preparatory work for the State’s first seawater reverse osmosis desalination plant on the 13 acres of land leased out by New Mangalore Port Trust (NMPT) here.

The Trust has provided land on the southern end of its property at Tannirbhavi to MRPL, along with an acre of seafront land on a 30-year lease.

The plant will initially produce 30 million litres per day (MLD) fresh water, expandable up to 70 MLD.

Nemmeli desalination plant to cost two thousand crores more.

THE proposed desalination plant at Nemmeli will cost the State Rs 2,100 crore more than the initial estimate of Rs 3,912 crore. A detailed project report (DPR) for the 400-MLD plant has revised the estimate to Rs 6,078 crores.

The first estimate was done in 2013 when a DPR was prepared. But because of GST and an increase in material cost, the estimation has been revised and the tender process is expected to begin soon, said an official at the Chennai Metropolitan Water Supply & Sewerage Board.

Imran offers garbage-fuelled desalination plant to Karachi.

Imran Khan proposed to solve Karachi’s garbage problem by using it to generate electricity, simultaneously powering a desalination plant for overcoming the water shortage in the city.

He made this declaration soon after PML-N leader Nawaz Sharif and PPP leader Bilawal Bhutto-Zardari promised to convert Karachi into a model South Asian city.
