WABAG bags new order for 50 MLD Desalination projects – Senegal

WABAG a leading pure-play water technology company said it has secured a consortium Design, Build, Operate (DBO) order, for the 50 MLD Mamelles Sea Water desalination project from Societe Nationale Des Eaux du Senegal (SONES), the national water company of Senegal, worth ab out 146 million Euro.

The scope of WABAG under this order will be engineering and procurement and operation and maintenance, which is worth about one third of the consortium order value.

PV-powered desalination system for rural areas – Cape Verde

Italian start-up Genius Watter has developed a desalination solution that is powered exclusively by photovoltaics and is claimed to be an ideal solution for rural areas with no connection to grid electricity.

“We have completed a project in Cape Verde in 2020 and we are now developing [an]other five projects, of which three are expected to be built in 2021,” the company chairman, Franco Traverso, who is also the chairman of the U.S.-Canadian solar module manufacturer Silfab, told pv magazine.

Solar-powered desalination system commissioned in Cape Coast, Ghana – Ghana

A solar-powered desalination system has been commissioned in Cape Coast, the capital city of the Central Region of south Ghana, after 24 months of research and development.

The facility is specifically situated at the Philip Quaque School, the oldest school in the West African country. This location was chosen with the help of Technik ohne Grenzen e.V and the local people.

Grino installs a solar-powered desalination system in Cape Coast – Ghana

At least 1,000 people are currently benefiting from a desalination system that has just been installed in the coastal city of Cape Coast, Central Province, Ghana.

This is the result of a pilot project implemented by Grino Water Solutions, a start-up based in Nuremberg, Germany.

The system consists of an 8m3 per day borehole that pumps salt water. It is powered by a photovoltaic solar system consisting of 24 panels.

Govt lied over Teshie Desalination project – Ghana

President Nana Addo Dankwa Akufo-Addo and his government lied about the Teshie Desalination project that was started by the previous NDC administration, Member of Parliament for Bodi and a former Deputy Minister Water Resources, Works and Housing, Sampson Ahi, has said.
