Egypt secures $486m to implement 17 Projects supporting food security – Egypt

Egypt’s Ministry of International Cooperation has reported that the ongoing funding by multilateral and bilateral development partners amounting to $486m has been channelled into 17 projects.

These projects are in 22 locations nationwide, and aim to support Egypt’s strategy in pushing towards achieving Goal 2 of the United Nations’ (UN) Sustainable Development Goal (SDG) to enhance food security.

According to the ministry’s ODA-SDG map, the development financing available to implement the second SDG encompasses $112m of non-refundable grants, and $374m of secured funding from 11 development partners.

Filinvest utility arm lands 25-year Metro Cebu water supply deal – Philippines

Gotianun-led Filinvest Development Corp.’s FDC Utilities Inc. (FDCUI) secured a 25-year bulk water supply deal with the Metro Cebu Water District (MCWD).

In a statement, FDCUI said its wholly-owned subsidiary, FDC Water Utilities Inc., was given a notice of award by the MCWD for its unsolicited proposal to put up desalination plants to supply potable water to Cebu City, Lapu-Lapu City, and Talisay City.

Bill aims to help turn recycled wastewater into high-quality drinking water – California

Declining Sierra snowfall and continuing drought conditions have some people looking at recycling wastewater as a stable source of supplies in the future.

Many Bay Area districts are already tapping into lower-quality recycled water for outdoor use. Santa Clara Valley Water District Board Vice-Chair Gary Kremen says it’s about 5% of their supply.

„Most of our recycled water today is used for outdoor irrigation and some slight amount is used for cooling towers,“ said Kremen.
