Tedagua (Spain) named to build 14.3 Mio USD desalination Plant in northen Morocco

…

Spain has granted Morocco 14.3 million U.S. dollars in loan to finance seawater desalination project, local media reported on Saturday. The project consists of planning and setting up a factory for seawater desalination, which will supply water to the northeastern provinces of Al Hoceima and Nador, the financial daily L’Economiste pointed out. The factory will be built by the Spanish company of Tedagua, the same source noted. Morocco is witnessing an increasing demand for drinking water as the country went through severe drought in 2015. To ensure the country’s water security, the Moroccan government worked in 2015 a […]

Performance Analysis of the Mechanical Vapor Compression Desalination System Driven by an Organic Rankine Cycle

Abstract:
A desalination system through mechanical vapor compression (MVC), coupling with an organic Rankine cycle (ORC) to drive the steam compressor, is proposed in this paper. Integrated mechanisms of the coupled desalination system are simulated and demonstrated based on the first and second law of thermodynamics, and the corresponding thermal performance is analyzed. Based on the system characteristics at the designed conditions for five types of working fluid, top temperature at the outlet of the boiler and the ambient temperature are designated to illustrate the evocable influence principles. It is observed that the variation trend of the performance both […]

Cape Town’s temporary desalination plants online ‘February 2018’ . South Africa – Cape Town

… After yesterday’s rains across the metropole, Cape Town mayor Patricia de Lille briefed media, and Twitter, on updates regarding its water resilience scheme. The scheme aims to “avoid a time when users do not have access to municipal drinking water”, de Lille explained. “In terms of our Water Resilience Plan to augment supply with schemes, we are expecting the first water to come online by Dec 2017 /Jan 2018,” she tweeted. The plan intends to add an additional 500-million litres per day to Cape Town’s water supply by using natural springs, aquifers, and desalination. The latter, however, won’t […]

Ghana Water buying desalinated water at about 1,25 €/m³ from Abengoa sub company – Ghana – Teshie-Nungua

…

The Ghana Water Company Limited (GWC) loses GHc 6 million monthly by operating the Teshie-Nungua Water Desalination Plant. Citi News checks indicate that that the GWCL makes payment of GHc 8 million a month to the financiers of the project, although it makes only GHc 2 million by supplying treated water from the plant. The plant has the capacity to desalinate 13 million gallons of seawater a day. More generally, desalination refers to the removal of salts and minerals from a target substance, as in soil desalination, which is an issue for agriculture. In this case however, saltwater is desalinated […]

Grant from state Department of Water Resources for feasibility study on brackish groundwater desalination in Bonsall Basin of San Luis Rey River

The Rainbow Municipal Water District will be seeking a grant from the state Department of Water Resources for a feasibility study on brackish groundwater desalination in the Bonsall Basin of the San Luis Rey River. The water district board voted 5-0, Aug. 22, to approve the application of a grant to DWR along with execution of any agreement if the grant is approved. The grant would offset the cost of the Bonsall Basin desalination feasibility study. “We think we’re in good shape to hopefully receive these funds,” Rainbow general manager Tom Kennedy said. The Department of Water Resources provides […]
