Chennai receives 1,000 million litres of water – India

For the first time since the formation of Chennai Metro Water Board in 1978, the water supply has touched 1,000 MLD on Friday.

Copious inflow into the reservoirs due to good rainfall and the release of Krishna water from Andhra Pradesh are the major reasons for this, say officials.

On Friday, the five reservoirs (Chembarambakkam, Poondi, Red Hills, Cholavaram, and Thervoy Kandigai) together had a water storage level of 9.5 TMC.

Singapore using ‚virtual twins‘ of land and sea to monitor activities and plan projects – Singapore

Dotted with ships and fish farms, and teeming with marine life, the seas surrounding Singapore contain a treasure trove of information, some of it invisible to the naked eye.

The information includes details about the seabed, the status of desalination plants and marine water quality.

To make such data available to government agencies here, the MPA started developing a repository of land, marine and coastal data in 2019.

Winning sustainable agritech system that aims to help save the UAE a trillion litres of water per year – United Arab Emirates

Terraplus Solutions has officially launched its award-winning sustainable agritech irrigation system, known as T+, after highly successful trials on date palms in Dubai.

If deployed across 20,000 farms in the UAE, which contain 20 to 40 million date palms, it is estimated it could save a trillion litres of water per year.

This is equivalent to the annual water usage of five million people, approximately half the population of the UAE.
