Sindh govt to install 300m gallon desalination plant near Hub – Sindh – Pakistan

The Sindh government on Monday decided to install a 300 million gallon desalination plant.

Hub Power Company (Hubco) proposed that a 300 million gallon desalination plant be installed to deal with Karachi’s water crisis during a meeting chaired by Sindh Chief Minister Murad Ali Shah.

According to authorities, the desalination plant will be installed near Hub.

ADB assures financial assistance for desalination plant, other projects in Sindh – Sindh – Pakistan

Asian Development Bank (ADB) Central West Asian Department (CWRD) Director General (DG) Werner Liepach on Thursday assured Sindh Chief Minister Syed Murtad Ali Shah to provide financial and technical assistance for the Karachi desalination plant as well as multiple other infrastructure projects in the province.

This was announced in a meeting that took place between the Sindh CM and ADB delegation.

After suffering from the worst kind of water crisis for over a decade where even contaminated water was scarce, the Balochistan government has claimed to have started clean water supply to only two cities.

Imran offers garbage-fuelled desalination plant to Karachi.

Imran Khan proposed to solve Karachi’s garbage problem by using it to generate electricity, simultaneously powering a desalination plant for overcoming the water shortage in the city.

He made this declaration soon after PML-N leader Nawaz Sharif and PPP leader Bilawal Bhutto-Zardari promised to convert Karachi into a model South Asian city.

Speaking with media persons here, he said: “My dream of New Pakistan cannot be realized until and unless I develop this city,” he said.

Governor calls for desalination of sea water to overcome water shortage.

Sindh Governor Mohammad Zubair has said that there is a need to desalinate sea water in order to effectively overcome the ever-increasing shortage of potable water for the residents of Karachi.

He stated this on Monday while speaking at a briefing held at the Governor House to review progress on the K-IV Greater Karachi Water Supply Scheme being built with the support of the federal government.
