Jubail 3A desalination plant’s solar power station linked to the Saudi grid – KSA

The solar power plant, powered by Vertex N 700W+ series solar PV modules supplied by China’s Trina Solar, was integrated into the grid by its contractor SEPCOIII, Trina Solar said in a press statement.

The solar PV station will meet 20 percent of the desalination plant’s daily power requirements and curtail carbon emissions by 60,000 tonnes annually.

Cape Town firm GrahamTek to build R5bn desalination plant – Saudi Arabia

A company based in Cape Town scored a R5 billion contract to design, build and operate a desalination facility in Saudi Arabia.

The contract was awarded to GrahamTek by The Saline Water Conversion Corporation (SWCC).

SWCC controls about 40% of the world’s desalination plants, and produces 6 billion litres of water for Saudi Arabia every day.

Water and wastewater management specialist Metito engineered, designed, developed, and commissioned the floating desalination barges for its client, the Saudi National Shipping Company (Bahri). A total of three barges, 50,000m3/d each, secured the project the title of the largest operating plant of its kind in the world.

Shuqaiq 3 SWRO recognized by the global water industry – KSA

For this reason, Shuqaiq 3 SWRO was awarded a prize in the Desalination Plant of the Year category. Construction work on the plant was completed in January 2023 in record time despite COVID-19 problems. It is one of the biggest seawater desalination plants using reverse osmosis technology in the Kingdom of Saudi Arabia, capable of supplying 2 million people in the Asir and Jizan areas. The plant, which is already producing water at full capacity, produces 450,000 cubic metres of potable water per day, making it a milestone in sustainable and innovative desalination.
