The BMC and Israel’s IED Technologies have signed a MoU on Monday to prepare a DPR for a 200 MLD desalination plant at Manori.

The plant, which will be ready by 2025 and will help reduce the city’s dependence on the monsoon for drinking water, said Maharashtra tourism and environment minister Aaditya Thackeray.

“Along with water security for Mumbai and possibilities of capacity augmentation, the desalination plant will help us avoid financial and ecological costs of dam construction.

Russian co intends to setup desalination, waste-to energy project in Karachi – Pakistan

A delegation of Russian businessmen led by Sergey Savchuk, CEO, CC RusWelding called on Board of Investment (BOI) Chairman Atif Bokhari to discuss investment opportunities in Pakistan.

The delegation briefed about their projects related to water desalination and conversion of solid waste to energy, which they intend on setting up in Karachi.

They also spoke about developing an engineering center & said the company is exploring Public-Private Partnerships and EPC ventures.

Desalination plant for transforming seawater nearing completion – India

Give desalinated water to industries: Andhra CM Jagan – India

Chief Minister YS Jagan Mohan Reddy has directed officials to take steps to provide desalinated water to industries and industrial estates so as to conserve fresh water in reservoirs and other water resources. 

He wanted the officials to focus on promoting desalination plants and providing water to industries by laying dedicated pipelines.

He said that the responsibility in this regard lies on the AP Industrial Infrastructure Corporation (APIIC).

The Brihanmumbai Municipal Corporation (BMC) will set up a desalination plant with 200 MLD capacity per day to overcome water shortage in Mumbai, an official said on Wednesday.

Stage-1 clearance granted for desal plant inside Koonimedu forest – Chennai – India

CHENNAI: The Regional Empowered Committee of Union Environment Ministry has granted stage-1 clearance for construction of a desalination plant inside Koonimedu forest area in Villupuram district.

The decision was taken at a recently held meeting in Chennai. Tamil Nadu Water Supply and Drainage Board (TWAD) will construct the plant in an area of 16 hectares.

Mauripur Expressway approved – Karachi – Pakistan

The Mauripur Expressway, water and sanitation and desalination projects were approved on the public-private partnership mode on Thursday as the 32nd meeting of Public Private Policy Board was held at the Chief Minister’s House.

Along with the expressway, the board approved the Link Road to Korangi, Hub water supply project of three million gallons per day (MGD) from Dhabeji to Special Economic Zone, the Lyari sewerage system, the Lyari Development Authority’s Scheme 42, a five MGD desalination plant and construction of canal from Nabirsar to Vajira on the public private partnership mode.
