Israel expects to seal deals worth about $500m after Tuesday’s historic agreements to normalise ties with the UAE and Bahrain come into force.

Ofir Akunis, Israel’s minister of regional co-operation, said the accords would expand into bilateral trade and investments reaching “billions of dollars for each side”.

The Jewish state will offer its expertise in water desalination and agricultural technology as the most promising sectors for co-operation with its new business partners in the Gulf.

ACCIONA-built Al-Khobar 1 desalination plant produces first cubic meter of water – Saudi Arabia

ACCIONA has described the production of the first cubic meter of water at Al-Khobar 1 as a key milestone in the construction of the desalination plant located on the east coast of Saudi Arabia.

The Sea Water Reverse Osmosis (SWRO) plant is owned by the Saline Water Conversion Corporation (SWCC) and considered a critical project in the modernisation of the water sector in Saudi Arabia.

A cubic meter of water is the equivalent to the consumption of a four-member family for one day, said its EPC contractor.

ACWA-led consortium secures financing for Jubail desalination plant – Saudi Arabia

A consortium led by Saudi Arabian utility developer ACWA Power has signed financing agreements for a $650 million desalination project in the Saudi industrial city of Jubail.

The desalination plant, Jubail-3A IWP, will use sea water reverse osmosis to yield a capacity of 600,000 cubic metres per day.

The plant is being financed through limited recourse ring-fenced project financing from Al Rajhi Bank 1120.SE, Abu Dhabi Islamic Bank ADIB.AD, Riyad Bank 1010.SE and Mizuho 8411.T, ACWA said in a statement.

Saudi utility firm wins financing for $650m desalination project – Saudi Arabia

ACWA Power has obtained financing to help develop a $650 million desalination project in Saudi Arabia.

The transaction is funded through “limited recourse ring-fenced project financing” with Al Rajhi Bank, Abu Dhabi Islamic Bank, Riyad Bank and Mizuho Bank as initial mandated lead arrangers, the Saudi-based utility said in a statement.

Riyad Bank and Bank AlJazira also provided equity bridge loans earlier this month.

After retendering the project, Dubai Electricity and Water Authority (DEWA) has achieved a new world’s breaking record for the lowest water levelised tariff of 0.277 USD per cubic metre for its 120 Million Gallons Per Day (MIGD) Hassyan Sea Water Reverse Osmosis (SWRO) Plant.

The project is DEWA’s first Independent Water Producer (IWP) model project.

DEWA has adopted the IWP procurement model for the Hassyan desalination plant following the success of the Independent Power Producer (IPP) model at the Mohammed bin Rashid Al Maktoum Solar Park projects.

Kuwait likely to issue power and water desalination plant tender in Q4 – Kuwait

Kuwait Ministry of Electricity and Water (MEW) is expected to tender the design consultancy package for the first phase of the planned Nuwaiseeb power and water desalination plant in Ahmadi in the fourth quarter 2020, a source aware of the project details said.

„The design consultancy tender is expected to be released by October 2020 with the design completion is expected to be by first quarter 2021,“ the source told Zawya Projects, adding that the project completion is scheduled for December 2024.

Acciona wins $500m desalination contract – Saudi Arabia

The contract for the plant – Acciona’s fourth in the country – was awarded by Saudi publicly-owned company Saline Water Conversion Corporation (SWCC).

The Al Khobar 2 desalination plant will be built at Khobar, on the east coast of Saudi Arabia around 400 kilometres from Riyadh.

The facility will be equipped with reverse osmosis technology and will have a daily capacity of more than 600,000m³, making it one of the biggest in the country.

Saudi Water Partnership Company (SWPC) and the Shuqaiq Three Company for Water (S3CW) Shuqaiq 3 IWP desalination plant in Shuqaiq, Jizan region.

On the country’s south-west coast, has achieved two million man-hours without Lost Time Injuries (LTIs) as construction surpasses the 50% completion mark.
