Thus, in a note published in September 2022 , two specialists from Ifri (French Institute of International Relations) write that in 2022, „more than 21,000 seawater desalination plants are operational worldwide, almost twice as many as ten years ago, and the sector is experiencing growth of around +6% to +12% in capacity per year.“
