ACCIONA was awarded in 2004 with a 20-year contract to redesign, build and operate the Tampa Bay Seawater Desalination Facility (TBWSWDF). With this recent 5-year extension, ACCIONA and its partner U.S. Water will operate this flagship in desalination until 2029.
Launched in 2018 by His Royal Highness Prince Mohammed bin Salman bin Abdulaziz, Crown Prince and Prime Minister, the AlKhafji Desalination Plant is a revolutionary system that turns saltwater into clean drinking water and generates clean energy for the Kingdom. The plant has the capacity to produce up to 90,000 m³ of clean water per day and uses cutting-edge technology developed by the King Abdulaziz City for Science and Technology (KACST).

Saudi-based Acwa Power, a global developer of power and desalination projects, a leader in energy transition and first mover into green hydrogen, said it has signed the framework agreement to outline the development of the first phase of the green hydrogen project in Egypt with a 600,000 tonnes-per-year capacity.
Under the 30-year PPP contract Águas de Fortaleza is due to invest 3.1bn reais (US$632mn) to build, operate and maintain the 1,000l/s plant that will supply potable water to Cagece’s Mucuripe and Praça da Imprensa reservoirs.
