Riyadh, Saudi Arabia ‒ ACWA Power, a leading Saudi developer, investor, and operator of power generation, water desalination and green hydrogen plants worldwide, has signed water purchase agreements for the 600,000 cubic metre per day Rabigh 4 Independent Water Plant (IWP) in Saudi Arabia.
Acwa Power won the contract for the Rabigh 4 project, which has a capacity of 600,000 cubic metres per day, after responding to a request for proposals put forward by the off-taker.
In a Tadawul statement today, April 12, the company said the plant will operate with the reverse osmosis technology, at a capacity of up to 600,000 cubic meters (m3)/day.
A specialist in the electrochemical industry and leader in sustainable technologies and in the emerging green hydrogen industry, De Nora said following this Jubail facility will become the largest seawater reverse osmosis (SWRO) desalination plant in the world, producing up to 1 million cu m of seawater per day.

Funded by Proposition 1, a $7.545 billion bond approved by voters in 2014, the Water Desalination Grant Program supports the construction and design of pilot projects that desalinate naturally occurring brackish and ocean water for drinking water supply.
