On Tuesday, the port authority’s guiding commission voted 5-2 in favor of paying $62,025 in permitting fees to the Texas Commission on Environmental Quality, effectively kicking off the permit process seeking permission to intake seawater for the proposed 50 million-gallon-per-day facility.

Mumbai: BMC drags feet, water desalination plan on hold – India

During the MVA government’s tenure, the BMC had chosen a desalination plant at Manori, over the Gargai dam project, citing potential destruction of the Tansa Wildlife Sanctuary. It had appointed an Israeli company, IDE Water Technologies Ltd., to prepare a proposal. The plant is estimated to supply 200 million litres of water daily in the initial stage.

The U.S. Department of Energy (DOE), in partnership with the National Alliance for Water Innovation (NAWI) hub, today (Jan 19) announced eleven pilot projects across five states that have been selected for negotiation to develop pilot systems that will design, build, operate, and test desalination and water reuse treatment systems that produce clean water from non-traditional water sources, such as brackish water, seawater, produced and extracted water, and wastewater.

Desalination to Help Address Water Shortage – South Iran

“Currently, the water desalination facilities in the southern province produce 45,000 cubic meters of freshwater per day and when the new projects are completed, the figure will reach about 100,000 cubic meters per day by the end of the current Iranian year (March 2023),” Majid Aqazadeh was also quoted as saying by the Energy Ministry’s news portal.

Israel to build a $5.5 billion desalination plant for Arizona

An Israeli company is to build a $5.5 billion desalination plant in Mexico, to supply the US state of Arizona with drinking water. 

The desalination plant will be connected to a water distribution facility and reservoir in Arizona through a 1,000 ft-long series of pumps and pipes. It will draw water from the Sea of Cortez, desalinate it, and provide up to one billion cubic meters a year to Arizona.
