Senegal to build desalination facility and natural gas power plant – Africa

In close collaboration with SONES, ACWA Power will oversee the development of a 300,000 m3/d seawater reverse osmosis plant (SWRO) in Grande Côte. Located approximately 40km north-east of Dakar, Senegal’s capital, the SWRO development will serve as the first desalination project in the country facilitated on a public-private partnership basis. It would also be the largest desalination project of its kind in sub-Saharan Africa.

Dewa and Dutch start-up Desolenator to build solar-powered desalination system – Dubai

The Dubai Electricity and Water Authority (Dewa) has signed a partnership agreement with Dutch start-up Desolenator to build a carbon-neutral water purification and desalination system that is completely powered by solar energy.

The utility has set a goal to ensure that 100 per cent of Dubai’s production of desalinated water comes from a mixture of clean energy — which combines renewable energy sources and waste heat — by 2030.

The Umm Al Houl desalination plant in Qatar reaches one million hours without accidents – Doha, Qatar

The plant is part of a large-scale Integrated Water and Power Project (IWPP) that produces approximately 2,500 MW of electric power and can reach a daily total of 894,000 m3, including the production of MSF.

ACCIONA has been the main partner in the project, designing, constructing and operating it from 2017 to the present day. This reverse osmosis desalination plant has a total daily capacity of 894,000 m3 (in two phases) and represents a milestone in the world of desalination because it the first time that reverse osmosis technology has been applied on a large […]
