New reservoir to double Larnaca water board’s storage capacity

Contracts were signed on Monday for the construction of a new water reservoir for Larnaca Water Board that will be erected at a cost of €3.7m and be completely financed by the EU’s recovery and resilience fund.

The new facility, made of reinforced concrete, will have a storage capacity of 10,000 cubic metres.

The project also provides for new piping, flow metres and other equipment, among other. It will be erected at Klavdia where the water board has its other storage facilities.

Namibia plans to tap sea water to keep uranium mines running – Namibia

Namibia is pressing ahead with the construction of a new desalination plant in the central coastal Erongo region to meet demand for water from uranium mines and other users.

A feasibility study for the plant, which will produce 70,000 cubic meters (2.5 million cubic feet) of water a day, has been finalized and a site has been acquired, Agriculture, Water and Land Reform Minister Calle Schlettwein said in an emailed statement on Thursday.

As Morocco withers under its worst drought in 40 years, experts warn that a combination of climate change and bad resource management could trigger severe drinking water shortages.

The International Company for Water and Power Projects (ACWA Power) has closed the SAR 391.5 million transaction to sell its entire stake of 32% in Shuqaiq Water and Electricity Company (Shuqaiq IWPP).

Houthis launch attacks on Saudi energy, desalination facilities: coalition – Saudi Arabia

It said the attacks were aimed at a water desalination plant in Al-Shaqeeq, an Aramco distribution station in Jizan, a power station in Dhahran al Janub, a gas facility in Khamis Mushait and an Aramco liquefied natural gas plant in Yanbu.
„These hostile attacks and debris resulting from interceptions caused some material damage at the facilities and civilian cars and houses.
