An Egyptian delegation of water treatment experts visited Iraq this month for talks with Iraqi officials on addressing an acute water crisis in the Arab country.
The Ministry of Irrigation and Water Resources said June 20 that the Egyptian delegation discussed a proposal for building a water desalination plant on the Euphrates River.
The station will be used to purify and desalinate seawater to help ease water shortages in southern Iraq.

Prime Minister Mostafa Madbouly visited the new city of Al-Alamein in an inspection tour to follow up on the development work being carried out there, especially in terms of utilities.

Egyptâs Prime Minister Mostafa Madbouly held a meeting Wednesday with Head of the National Center for Planning State Land Uses, Nasser Fawzy, and Deputy Chairperson of the Holding Company for Drinking Water and Sanitation, Assam Shoukr.
The meeting was held in order to follow up on the position of the lands to be offered to the private sector for the establishment of seawater desalination plants.
