Morocco launches tender for 260 MW solar project

The project is part of MASEN’s Noor Atlas solar programme implemented by Onee which aims to develop solar energy in remote areas of Morocco, in line with the kingdom’s objective of increasing the share of renewable energy to 52% by 2030.

European Investment Bank (EIB), is financing the programme to the tune of US $131M.

The programme will enable Morocco to diversify its electricity mix and help reduce energy dependence on fossil fuels.

Umgeni Water says water supply in areas like Chatsworth, uMlazi and Northdene among others remains interrupted.

Taqa inaugurates solar power plant in Soma Bay and signs up for desalination – Egypt

In Egypt, resort of Soma Bay is now powered by solar energy. A clean solar energy plant was recently commissioned by Taqa Arabia, a Cairo-based company.

Inauguration ceremony was attended by officials from Taqa Arabia, which owns the solar power plant, as well as Ibrahim El-Missiri, the chairman and CEO of (ASDC).

Solar power plant, which has a capacity of 5 MWp, was built by Taqa Power, the subsidiary of Taqa Arabia Group. The clean electricity is sold to ASDC under a 30-year power purchase agreement.
