EWEC a leading company in the integrated coordination of planning, purchasing and supply of water and electricity across the UAE, today announced receipt of four proposals from Acciona, ACWA Power, Engie and GS Inima, for the development of its new Mirfa 2 RO IWP.

The M2 RO project will see the selected bidder developing, financing, constructing, operating, maintaining, and owning a standalone brownfield RO seawater desalination plant.

Emirates Water and Electricity Company (EWEC), a leading company in the integrated system of coordinating planning, purchasing and supplying of water and electricity across the UAE, announced today that it has successfully completed the transfer of the Load Despatch Centre (LDC) function from the Abu Dhabi Transmission & Despatch Company (TRANSCO).

Water security has been a major priority for Abu Dhabi. The emirate has always been seeking the  best methods to optimize the use of water resources.

Now, the Abu Dhabi Department of Energy (DoE) is enhancing the water security of the emirate by developing fresh policies and regulations to support the sector.

The DoE will also improve the performance of its desalination plants to ensure secure and sustainable water supplies through nine of its plants which have a production capacity of around 1.3bn cubic metres of water per year.

Sharjah based Qatra Water Solutions has said that it is in the process of rapidly expanding its wastewater treatment capacity.

“We target to double it by 2022 in order to cope with the increased population in Sharjah,” said Gurvan Dersel, General Manager at Qatra Water Solutions.

Qatra is a Public-Private Partnership between the Sharjah Investment and Development Authority, Shurooq, and BESIX, a company operating in infrastructure concessions and construction.
