Dh17 million project to enhance water supply across Sharjah – Dubai

The Sharjah Electricity and Water Authority (SEWA) has completed two water transmission lines project with a capacity of 60 million gallons per day and at a cost of Dh17 million.

The transmission lines are from Al Alliah to Al Jubail under the Sharjah Creek.

UAE giants ink deal to develop Dubai power, desalination plant – Dubai

Emirates Global Aluminium (EGA), Mubadala and Dubai Holding are to sign an agreement to develop a new power block and a water desalination plant at EGA’s smelter at Jebel Ali in Dubai.

The new facilities will improve the efficiency of power for EGA’s aluminium smelting, reducing environmental emissions and natural gas consumption, a statement said.

Acwa signs partnership deal for giant renewable energy project – Dubai

Acwa Power, a leading developer, owner, and operator of power generation and water desalination plants based in Saudi Arabia, said it has joined hands with three international groups – Spanish company Abengoa and Chinese firms Industrial and Commercial Bank of China Limited (ICBC), Shanghai Electric Group Company (SEGC) – to set up the world’s largest renewable energy project in Dubai, UAE.

As per the deal, Acwa Power is lead developer on the project, while ICBC has established its role as an international lender for Noor Energy 1.

UAE inspires GCC nuclear future – United Arab Emirates

The United Arab Emirates is making progress on the construction of the first nuclear power plant in the GCC region.

In July, the Emirates Nuclear Energy Corporation (ENEC) announced that the first nuclear reactor would come online to start generating electric power in late 2019 or early 2020.

Construction of the UAE’s second nuclear power reactor is nearing completion with pre-operational testing well underway. Pre-operational testing process incorporates all lessons learned from the same test on Unit 1.
