REPUBLIKA.CO.ID, ABU DHABI â The United Arab Emirates (UAE) has promised to build three desalination plants in the besieged Gaza Strip. The factory is to supply an important water supply for the Gaza population.
Researchers at NYUADâs Smart Materials Lab and the Centre for Smart Engineering Materials, led by Professor PanÄe Naumov and Research Scientist Ejaz Ahmed, together with their collaborators from the Institute for Membrane Technology in Italy, created a unique hybrid membrane by utilising stimuli-responsive materials, thermosalient organic crystals, embedded in polymers.
A consortium of UAE-based Metito and Indiaâs VA TECH WABAG (WABAG) has been awarded a mega desalination project in the state of Tamil Nadu, India.

SEOUL, Aug. 10 (Yonhap) â GS Inima Environment S.A., a unit of GS Engineering & Construction Co., has won a 920 billion-won (US$698 million) deal to build a desalination plant in the United Arab Emirates, Seoulâs environment ministry said Thursday.
The plant, which will be the third largest desalination facility in UAE, will utilise reverse osmosis desalination, and output a production capacity of 550,000 cubic meters per day of potable water, providing clean drinking water to approximately 210,000 households while offering increased efficiency and a reduced environmental footprint.
The project, backed by a 100 million UAE dirhams ($27.23 million) ADQ development fund, aims to contribute to the decarbonisation of food production in desert climates by significantly lowering the carbon footprint of the desalination process.

The project is supported by a AED100 million ($27.2 million) research and development fund launched in 2022 by ADQ.Â
The mega project will comprise a greenfield seawater nanofiltration plant with a treatment capacity of more than 110 million imperial gallons per day (500,000 m3/day) in addition to seawater intake and outfall facilities, pumping stations, and a water transmission pipeline of approximately 75km.
