The plant, which will be the third largest desalination facility in UAE, will utilise reverse osmosis desalination, and output a production capacity of 550,000 cubic meters per day of potable water, providing clean drinking water to approximately 210,000 households while offering increased efficiency and a reduced environmental footprint.
The project, backed by a 100 million UAE dirhams ($27.23 million) ADQ development fund, aims to contribute to the decarbonisation of food production in desert climates by significantly lowering the carbon footprint of the desalination process.
