Abu Dhabi-based Emirates Water and Electricity Company (Ewec) has invited developers to submit expressions of interest for its planned Mirfa 2 (M2) independent water project, a reverse osmosis facility planned with the capacity to supply up to 150 million imperial gallons a day (MIGD) of desalinated water.

EWEC calls for bids for 150m imperial gallon per day desalination plant – United Arab Emirates

Developers/developer-consortiums have been invited to submit expressions of Interest (EoIs) by the Emirates Water and Electricity Company (EWEC) for the Mirfa 2 (M2) independent water project (IWP) in Abu Dhabi.

Saudi Arabian national petroleum and natural gas company Saudi Aramco said that water reservoirs far from the Gulf previously required significant quantities of non-potable groundwater for injection to help produce oil. In 1979, the company created a Sea Water Injection Department (SWID) to replace most withdrawals from this source.

Doosan to construct RO desalination plant in Saudi Arabia

The Yanbu4 seawater desalination plant will be constructed in Ar Rayyis, located about 260km north of Jeddah and will be applying the reverse osmosis (RO) process, which removes salt from seawater.

Doosan plans to construct the Yanbu4 seawater desalination plant on an EPC basis, taking  on the responsibilities of engineering, procurement and construction.

The desalination plant will supply 450,000 tonnes of potable water daily to the Ar Rayyis region, the western part of Saudi Arabia.

Doosan Heavy clinches W780b desalination plant deal – Saudi Arabia

Doosan Heavy Industries & Construction Co., a major South Korean plant builder, said Monday it has clinched a 780 billion-won ($707.8 million) deal to build a seawater desalination plant in Saudi Arabia.
