Kingdom Mulls Modernisation of Desalination Plants – Saudi Arabia

He said that Saudi Arabia is the largest producer of desalinated water in the world producing three million cubic metres daily.

“Desalinated water accounts for 55 to 60 per cent of water supplied for public consumption,” he said at a graduation ceremony held at the training center for the Saline Water Conversion Corporation, or SWCC, in Jubail.

Referring to the ministry’s efforts to reduce consumption of water and prevent leakages, he said that these efforts would help save about 600,000 cubic metres of water daily.

Dubai’s Hassyan power plant to be fuelled by natural gas to reduce emissions – United Arab Emirates

Dubai’s Hassyan power complex will be converted into a natural gas plant as the emirate seeks to reduce emissions and become carbon neutral in the next three decades.

Sheikh Ahmed bin Saeed, chairman of the Dubai Supreme Council of Energy, approved the conversion of the 2,400-megawatt plant, which used clean coal, said the Dubai Electricity and Water Authority on Thursday.

“This step supports Dubai’s energy supply security by diversifying the energy mix through the Dubai Clean Energy Strategy 2050,” Sheikh Ahmed said.

World’s largest desalination plant in UAE to begin early commercial operation in Q1 2022 – United Arab Emirates

Taweelah RO, the world’s largest RO water desalination plant, will begin early commercial operations in the first quarter of 2022, by providing 100 million gallons per day (MGD), said the Chief Executive Officer of the Emirates Water and Electricity Company (EWEC).

In a statement to the Emirates News Agency (WAM), Othman Al Ali said that the plant will commence full commercial operations by the end of this year, providing 200 MGD.

ACCIONA has completed the construction of the SWPC’s Shuqaiq 3 Independent Water Project (IWP) Seawater Reverse Osmosis (SWRO) desalination in Saudi Arabia and it is working at full capacity.

The SWRO plant, of high-energy efficiency, is a key project in the modernization of the water sector that is currently being carried out by Saudi Water Partnership Company (SWPC) of Saudi Arabia.

ACCIONA is the Engineering, Procurement & Construction (EPC) contractor for Shuqaiq 3 IWP desalination plant, which will produce 450,000 cubic meters of potable water per day.

Bahri, Metito launch trial ops of first Saudi floating desal plant – Saudi Arabia

The Saudi National Shipping Company (Bahri) has announced the start of the trial operations of the first floating desalination plant set up near Al Shuqaiq port on the western coast of Saudi Arabia at an investment of SR760 million ($202 million).
This comes following an earlier agreement signed with the Saline Water Conversion Corporation (SWCC).

The project was developed by Metito, a leading global provider of water and alternative energy management solutions, on a fast-track basis.

Saudi Arabia inaugurated the first floating desalination plant near al-Shuqaiq port on the western coast, as part of its water projects to enhance water security in all the Kingdom’s regions.
Governor of Jazan Prince Mohammad bin Nasser bin Abdulaziz inaugurated the station in the presence of Minister of Environment, Water and Agriculture Abdul Rahman al-Fadhli, Saline Water Conversion Corporation (SWCC) governor Abdullah al-Abdulkarim.

The plant is an integrated project to generate electricity and supply the grid in the southern cities with energy.
