Dubai Electricity and Water Authority (Dewa) has completed 98 per cent of the M-Station expansion project, the largest power generation and water desalination plant in the UAE, in co-ordination with German technology major Siemens.

Saeed Mohammed Al Tayer, the managing director and CEO of Dewa, made the announcement during his visit to review the progress of the M-Station expansion project.

ACWA Power set to expand power generation capacity with $35bn investment in next five years – Saudi Arabia

The Saudi Arabia-based power generation company, ACWA Power, has confirmed plans to increase its water desalination and power generation capacity and grow during the next five years with investments valued at approximately $35bn, according to Trade Arabia.

As the quickest growing power and water developer in the Middle East and Africa, the company is expected to enter newer territories as part of its new growth strategy.

Almar Water Solutions is awarded a contract to develop a desalination plant in the city of Shuqaiq, on the Red Sea coast of Saudi Arabia

Almar Water Solutions, part of Abdul Latif Jameel, has been awarded a contract to develop a desalination plant in the city of Shuqaiq, on the Red Sea coast of Saudi Arabia.

Over $600 million will be invested in the project, creating 700 jobs, the company said in a statement.

Marubeni has won a contract to construct, own, operate, and maintain a desalinisation plant in the Saudi Arabian town of Shuqaiq.

The Japanese conglomerate, alongside Spanish contractor Acciona; Abdul Latif Jameel Commercial Development Company (ALJ); and Rawafid Alhadarah, signed the long-term water purchase agreement with Saudi state-owned Water and Electricity Company (WEC) on 29 January.

Water restrictions, desal warning for Melbourne after blaze near dam – Melbourne

Melburnians could be drinking water from Victoria’s desalination plant – or even be put on water restrictions – if a fire on the banks of a major water catchment east of the city is not quickly brought under control, the Water Minister has warned.

County Water Authority Refinances Bonds for Savings of $18 Million – San Diego

The San Diego County Water Authority announced Wednesday that it has saved nearly $18 million in debt payments by refinancing the bonds used to construct part of the Claude “Bud” Lewis Carlsbad Desalination Plant.

The savings topped prior projections of $13.6 million through June 2046, according to the Water Authority. A total of 45 investors, including J.P. Morgan Securities LLC and Goldman Sachs, made nearly $2 billion in orders for the bonds.
