Desalination Classification System (DCS)

Desalination technology is used by humans since thousands of years. Being in the desert surrounded by sand and rocks or being on the sea sailing through salty waters, always fresh water is needed every day to keep the human body in a balanced hydrate mode.

Nature started using desalination processes from the very first moment. Different concentration levels drive everything alive on our planet. Humans started using first evaporation and condensation processes to purify…

Symposium – Future Desalination Technologies

Date: 18.06.2015 – Duisburg

Everybody is familiar with MSF, MED, RO, NF, UF. Some might have been in contact with MD and FO. But how knows-how this works and how knows what comes next after MD and FO. DME has based on its know-how of desalination technology gathered a group of new and interesting technologies being presented by inventors, owners of patents and researchers showing where we will go in desalination in the future.

As we all know new and good ideas in desalination are getting more and more needed DME is very proud having gathered this group of people coming and […]

30 Mio Euro of Funding in Desalination

Sustainable technologies and concepts to increase water availability through water reuse and desalination (Wave) –

The development of alternative water resources through reuse and desalination along with sustainable use and management concepts for various requisitions can make a significant contribution to the reduction in the above discrepancy between increasing water consumption and a limited- water supply on the other.

A specifically designed to help water reuse process design of technical water systems as well as industrial and urban water cycle contributes to the conservation of natural water resources. In the industrial sector resource efficiency can also be increased by between enterprise resource […]

Successful practice tests in Egypt for LANXESS

Membrane elements from LANXESS for seawater desalination

Cologne – Specialty chemicals company LANXESS showcased its new Lewabrane RO S product line at this year’s Singapore International Water Week (SIWW) in early June 2014. The family of products currently encompasses three grades of spiral-wound membrane elements for reverse osmosis (RO), which were specially developed for seawater desalination. Alexander Scheffler, director of Membrane Business in the LANXESS Liquid Purification Technologies business unit, says: “Seawater makes up some 97 percent of all the water on earth. The desalination of seawater for use in farming and in drinking water production is therefore a very attractive […]

MED-TVC desalination system fired by CSP solar thermal collectors commissioned in South Australia

A newly designed MED-TVC desalination system by “fischer eco solutions GmbH” was installed with a client from the field of agricultural greenhouse farming in South Australia in January 2012. The system has a nominal daily (24 hours) capacity of 10 m³ fresh water and is fired by heat from concentrating parabolic collectors (CSP).

The collector field is tracked for the diurnal variations of the suntrace in order to optimize energy yield, the derived heat is stored in hot water tanks for 24 hours per day operation of the system. The system was realized for the first time in […]
