Barka Desalination IPO generates strong investor interest in Oman – Oman

Investor interest is gaining momentum in the initial public offering (IPO) of Barka Desalination Company or BDC (under transformation). The company, alongside the issue manager Bank Muscat Investment Banking, has been holding several meetings with key investors for Phase I of the IPO (i.e. book building).

Acciona Completes The Construction Of Shuqaiq 3 Desalination Plant In Saudi Arabia -Saudi Arabia

ACCIONA has completed the construction of the SWPC’s Shuqaiq 3 Independent Water Project (IWP) Seawater Reverse Osmosis (SWRO) desalination in Saudi Arabia and it is working at full capacity.

The SWRO plant, of high-energy efficiency, is a key project in the modernization of the water sector that is currently being carried out by Saudi Water Partnership Company (SWPC) of Saudi Arabia.

ACCIONA is the Engineering, Procurement & Construction (EPC) contractor for Shuqaiq 3 IWP desalination plant, which will produce 450,000 cubic meters of potable water per day.

Ewec’s Taweelah plant to begin early commercial production in Q1 – United Arab Emirates

Taweelah Reverse Osmosis (RO), the world’s largest RO water desalination plant located in Abu habi, will begin early commercial operations in the first quarter of 2022, by providing 100 million gallons per day (MGD), reported WAM, citing a top government official.

Bahri, Metito launch trial ops of first Saudi floating desal plant – Saudi Arabia

The Saudi National Shipping Company (Bahri) has announced the start of the trial operations of the first floating desalination plant set up near Al Shuqaiq port on the western coast of Saudi Arabia at an investment of SR760 million ($202 million).
This comes following an earlier agreement signed with the Saline Water Conversion Corporation (SWCC).

The project was developed by Metito, a leading global provider of water and alternative energy management solutions, on a fast-track basis.

Saudi Arabia Inaugurates Floating Desalination Plant – Saudi Arabia

Saudi Arabia inaugurated the first floating desalination plant near al-Shuqaiq port on the western coast, as part of its water projects to enhance water security in all the Kingdom’s regions.
Governor of Jazan Prince Mohammad bin Nasser bin Abdulaziz inaugurated the station in the presence of Minister of Environment, Water and Agriculture Abdul Rahman al-Fadhli, Saline Water Conversion Corporation (SWCC) governor Abdullah al-Abdulkarim.

The plant is an integrated project to generate electricity and supply the grid in the southern cities with energy.

Bahri completes trial commissioning of barge for SWCC – Saudi Arabia

The National Shipping Company of Saudi Arabia (Bahri) today (January 23) announced the successful trial commissioning of the first barge near the Port of Al Shuqaiq on the western coast of the kingdom.

Construction begins on Saudi Arabia’s clean-energy water project – Saudi Arabia

Global energy company ENGIE, in collaboration with Saudi-based contracting firm Nesma and private desalination company Mowah, today broke ground on the Al Rayes seawater reverse osmosis desalination plant.

The plant will use clean energy and be developed under a public-private partnership (PPP) structure together with Saudi Water Partnership Company (SWPC) “water principal buyer in Saudi Arabia”.

It is expected to be commercially operational from the last quarter of 2023.

Consultant appointed to evaluate designs for desalination project in Mumbai – India

A consultant has been appointed to evaluate the designs that have come in from the Israeli firm which is interested in developing a desalination project for Mumbai.

The study, that will have all details necessary for the project to start, is nearing completion.

As per the plan, initially, the plant will work on 200 million litres per day (MLD) of sea water daily, which may increase to 400 MLD in the second phase. Desalination is the process of removing salt from seawater.
