Andhra Pradesh’s first desalination plant to come up in Prakasam with Rs 35 crore – India

A desalination plant with an outlay of Rs 35 crore will come up soon to address the drinking water needs of 14 fishermen villages in the Ongole assembly constituency of Prakasam district. This will be the first such plant in the state.

The authorities have already sent a detailed project report (DPR) to the government and are waiting for approval.

ACWA Power begins water desalination operations at Rabigh Three IWP – Saudi Arabia

International Company for Water and Power Projects (ACWA Power) commenced operations of water desalination at Rabigh Three Company IWP, located in Rabigh with a capacity of 600.000 cubic meter/day, the company said in a statement to Tadawul.

The relevant financial impact is expected to show in the first quarter of 2021, the statement added.

Rabigh 3 IWP is one of the world’s largest water desalination plants utilizing reverse osmosis. The project’s investment cost stood at SAR 2.6 billion.

Abadan Desalination Plant to Become Operational in Feb. – Iran

A desalination plant is expected to be launched in Abadan, Khuzestan Province, in the near future to help address the pressing water problems of the southwestern oil city, said the director of Abadan Water and Wastewater Company.

SWPC and partners breaks ground on $826m desalination plant in Saudi Arabia – Saudi Arabia

The Saudi Water Partnerships Company (SWPC) has announced the ground-breaking of the $826m Al Rayyis Independent Water Project, which is being developed in collaboration with Engie and Saudi groups Nesma and Mowah.

The 450,000cu/m capacity desalination plant is expected to begin commercial operations in Q4 2023.

According to SWPC, the project is the first water pipeline in Saudi Arabia developed under the public-private-partnership (PPP) structure and will achieve one of the most competitive specific power consumption levels in the kingdom.
