The National Shipping Company of Saudi Arabia (Bahri) today (January 23) announced the successful trial commissioning of the first barge near the Port of Al Shuqaiq on the western coast of the kingdom.

This is in line with a SR760 million (($207 million) agreement signed by Bahri with Saline Water Conversion Corporation (SWCC), to transport desalinated water from three floating stations to desalination tanks in Saudi Arabia for a 20-year period.

Once operational, each station will have a capacity of 50,000 cu m per day with a total capacity of 150,000 cu m a day, said Bahri in its filing to the Saudi bourse Tadawul.
