Egypt’s Orascom Construction (OC) company sees a strong pipeline of projects in 2021 covering the country’s metro, railways, new roads and highways, water, and infrastructure. 

This also includes Operations and Management (O&M) contracts in renewables, water desalination, water treatment, wastewater treatment, power, and facilities management 

The company stressed its expertise in securing financing on behalf of the client for large scale projects, such as Egypt’s new Monorail network and water treatment plants .

Najjar and Egyptian envoy discuss ways to enhance water cooperation – Egypt

Minister of Water and Irrigation, Mohammad Najjar, discussed with the Egyptian Ambassador to Jordan, Sherif Kamal, on Wednesday, ways to strengthen aspects of water cooperation.

Ingersoll to supply compressed air to the Chtouka desalination plant – Morocco

News on the Chtouka desalination water supply project. The Spanish company Abengoa, which is developing the project via its Moroccan subsidiary Aman El Baraka, has chosen Ingersoll Rand’s Engineering Project Solutions to install a compressed air system in the desalination plant.

This system will be integrated into the industrial process of the installation, including the seawater intake, the discharge of salt into the sea, the storage of drinking water in the tanks, and the cleaning of these tanks.

Morocco invests USD 5.8 billion in renewable energy – Morocco

Morocco announced that it will invest MAD 52.1 billion (USD 5.8 billion) in renewable energy.

Major solar projects are underway in different cities, and the country is looking to meet over 52% of its electricity needs through renewable resources by 2030, as well as to become self-sufficient in the long haul.

Va Tech Wabag is winning new markets in Africa. The Indian multinational has just signed contracts for the construction of drinking water production plants worth 100 million dollars in Switzerland, Libya and Tunisia.

Egypt finalises 689 housing projects with $4.6bln investment in last two FYs – Egypt

Minister of Planning and Economic Development Hala El-Said said that 689 projects have been completed in the housing sector across Egypt.

This has come at a total investment cost estimated at EGP 72.6bn, of which 310 projects during fiscal year (FY) 2019/20 cost EGP 24.3bn.

It comes as part of the Ministry of Planning and Economic Development’s report on the housing sector during fiscal years (FYs) 2018/19 and 2019/20.
