Acciona consortium wins $1bn Saudi sewage plants contract – Saudi Arabia

Spanish infrastructure major Acciona said its consortium with Saudi partners Tawzea and Tamasuk has been awarded the contract for financing, construction and 25-year operation of three major sewage treatment plants in Saudi Arabia – Madinah-3, Buraydah-2 and Tabuk-2.  

These new contracts, worth a combined €855 million ($1.02 billion), have been awarded by the state-owned Saudi Water Partnership Company (SWPC).

These are the first BOOT/EPC (Build, Own, Operate and Transfer/Engineering, Procurement and Construction) contracts that Acciona has signed in the area of wastewater treatment in the Middle East.

Saudi Arabia hopes to raise $55bn through privatisation – Saudi Arabia

Saudi Arabia hopes to raise about $55bn over the next four years as it plans to step up its nascent privatisation programme with the government seeking to boost revenue and narrow its yawning budget deficit.

Saudi’s SWCC sets Guinness World Record for lowest energy-consuming desal plant – Saudi Arabia

SWCC’s new desalination plant operates at 2.27 kilowatt hours (kWh) per cubic meter of desalinated water.

The plant comprises a mobile seawater intake system that operates with the latest ERD energy recovery technology and highly energy efficient pumps.

In addition, the new desalination plant operates with an environmentally friendly reverse osmosis technology that has been implemented based on the latest international specifications and standards, according to the state-run Saudi Press Agency.

Doosan to construct RO desalination plant in Saudi Arabia

The Yanbu4 seawater desalination plant will be constructed in Ar Rayyis, located about 260km north of Jeddah and will be applying the reverse osmosis (RO) process, which removes salt from seawater.

Doosan plans to construct the Yanbu4 seawater desalination plant on an EPC basis, taking  on the responsibilities of engineering, procurement and construction.

The desalination plant will supply 450,000 tonnes of potable water daily to the Ar Rayyis region, the western part of Saudi Arabia.

Saudi’s SWPC receives EOIs for Ras Mohaisen desalination plant – Saudi Arabia

The Saudi Water Partnership Company (SWPC) has begun receiving expressions of interest (EOIs) following its issuance of requests for qualification (RFQ) for the development of its Ras Mohaisen independent water project (IWP).

Approximately 44 companies have expressed their interest in developing the Ras Mohaisen IWP, including 21 Saudi companies.

UAE-based Metito Utilities Limited, and UTICO FZC; French firms ENGIE Middle East, Veolia Middle East; Egypt’s Orascom Construction, and Elsewedy Electric; Spain’s Acciona Agua; India’s Essar Power; and Japan’s Marubeni have all shown interest in the project.

Saudi’s SWCC says 7 consortia qualified to compete in Ras AlKhair plant privatisation

Head of Privatization at the Saline Water Conversion Corporation (SWCC), Ahmad Mohammad Al-Amro, said that seven regional and global companies and strategic consortia have been qualified to compete in the Ras AlKhair plant privatisation.
