The United Arab Emirates (UAE) has agreed to donate two solar-powered desalination plants to the Federation of St. Kitts and Nevis as part of their UAE-Caribbean Renewable Energy Fund (UAE-CREF).

The Fund is a 50 million dollar plan to build climate-resilient renewable energy projects in 16 Caribbean nations.

Utico to develop desalination plant with 20,000 m3/d capacity in Oman – Oman

In a statement, Utico, which is a full-service utility and the only private water and power company in the UAE, said the Ghubra project will supply 20,000m3/d potable water to OWWSC at the lowest water tariff ever in Oman.

Commenting on the project win, Hussain Allawati, CEO of Utico Global, said: “The winning of the Ghubra desalination project in Muscat is a milestone for the company and a clear evidence of the company’s ability to achieve sustainable returns for its shareholders, in addition to achieving efficiencies in long-term government concessions.”

More than 13.6 million in 37 countries benefitted from Suqia UAE projects in 2021 – United Arab Emirates

The total number of beneficiaries from Suqia UAE reached more than 13.6 million in 37 countries by the end of 2021, said Saeed Mohammed Al Tayer, Chairman of the Board of Trustees of Suqia UAE, who highlighted the organisation’s efforts to implement developmental projects and provide drinking water for societies facing water scarcity and pollution.

This is in collaboration with local and global organisations as well as strategic partners of the Emirates Red Crescent, the Mohammed bin Rashid Al Maktoum Humanitarian and Charity Establishment, Dar Al Ber Society and Dubai Cares.

SEWA awards Metito 20 MIGD SWRO plant restoration – Saudi Arabia

Metito’s scope of work covers the design, procurement, construction, site erection, inspection, testing, and commissioning of the project.

In the process, Metito will dismantle and replace the existing equipment and structure, renovate SEWA’s SWRO system, and implement additional membranes in eight skids.

Metito will also be upgrading the electrical system to accommodate new equipment and integrate a Distributed Control System (DCS).

East Pipes Integrated Company for Industry, a leading manufacturer of Helical Submerged Arc Welded (HSAW) pipes, has signed a project with the Saline Water Conversion Corporation (SWCC) amounting to SAR 497 million ($132.4 million) to supply and deliver steel pipes for Water Transmission System.

ACWA Power closes deal to sell stake in Shuqaiq IWPP – Saudi Arabic

The International Company for Water and Power Projects (ACWA Power) has closed the SAR 391.5 million transaction to sell its entire stake of 32% in Shuqaiq Water and Electricity Company (Shuqaiq IWPP).
