Israeli firm pushes for more desalination in Philippines

MANILA, Philippines  —Israel-based water infrastructure developer IDE Technologies is keen on expanding its desalination and water recycling services into the Philippines, with its top executive saying that they were already in talks with local firms for possible ventures here.

Philippines biggest desalination plant soon – Cordova

The facility is nestled in a 3.5-hectare property in the barangays of Poblacion, Buagsong and Catarman in the Municipality of Cordova, Cebu.

According to the Capitol, the desalination plants can produce up to 20 million liters of potable water daily and expandable up to 50 million liters.

“The issues that were raised earlier are all about Metro Manila, but let me take everyone outside Metro Manila. Metro Cebu area’s demand is 570 MLD and you know how much water can be supplied? 270 MLD. So, as we speak there is a shortage of 300 MLD,” Juan Eugenio L.
