Membrane Distilliation (S-005-2014)
978-3-86861-126-7

The intention of the seminar is to provide a comprehensive overview on MD from theoretical background to practical applications and to bring together researchers, MD system and component producers and companies who are potential applicants for MD technology.

The seminar will provide details on the physics behind MD and show the advantages and limitations of the process. Possibilities for process optimization will be shown as well as the impact of membrane parameters. Practical results from the lab and from the field will be provided and potential applications for industrial use of MD will be discussed.

MED Plants combined with CSP (S-001-2013)
978-3-86861-116-8

During the last years the combination of desalination and renewable energies became more and more important. Various systems have been developed and are in duty nowadays. Such systems show their advantage in saving transport and distribution networks especially in decentralized implementations.
This seminar gives an overview about the today’s commercially available thermal systems and appli-cations and offers basic information regarding important and necessary arguments to combine energy source and desalination in small medium plants.
This seminar is primarily aimed at representa-tives of medium sized enterprises as well as operators and investors. Also welcome are universities and staff of research centers and all those who want to acquire this special know-how.

Pumps and Valves in Desalination Plants (S-006-2011)
978-3-946015-00-0

In view of investment and operating cost it is most important for the erection of desalination plants to choose the right combination of hydraulic components, with special regard to reverse osmosis plants. In cooperation with KSB, DME – the German Desalination Society – continues its series of advanced seminars with special topics.

Engineering of MED, MED-TVC and MVC Desalination Plants (S-005-2011)
978-3-86861-111-3

The engineering course will start with basics of saline water chemistry. Aspects of feed water pre-treatment will be illustrated. The important topic of materials selection and evaporator design will be discussed as well as the design of complete plants. The course will also cover environmental aspects of desalination and future developments. Theoretical descriptions will be accompanied with case studies.

Enhanced Membrane Technology (S-004-2011)
978-3-946015-01-7

To build and operate desalination plants properly is a great challenge and requires a detailed technical know how. The DME seminar gives fundamental and detailed information how to find pragmatic ways to built and operate desalination plants. Selecting the right component not always is easy. The Seminar addresses representatives of politics, business and science, who want to acquire elementary technical, environmental and economical information about this important and rapidly growing market.

Seawater Desalination and the Environmen (S-006-2010)
978-3-946015-06-2

The course will give a short introduction to the desalination technologies and the geographical distribution of desalination plants, including case studies, followed by an in-depth discussion of desalination plant impacts. The concept and methodology of environmental impact assessment, which is a commonly accepted approach to investigate and mitigate environmental impacts of development projects, will be introduced.

The ultimate purpose of this symposium is to improve the skills of desalination and marine environment professionals and increase their awareness of the impacts of desalination plants on the environment. It is therefore designed to provide technical training and guidance to engineers, scientists, regulators, consultants and students.

The symposium will give sufficient time for questions and discussions of emerging problems and possible solutions regarding environmental impacts of discharges.

Design of MED, MED-TVC and MVC Desalination Plants (S-008-2009)
978-3-946015-10-9

The engineering course will start with basics of saline water chemistry. Aspects of feed water pre-treatment will be illustrated. The important topic of materials selection and evaporator design will be discussed as well as the design of complete plants. The course will also cover environmental aspects of desalination and future developments. Theoretical descriptions will be accompanied with case studies.

Materials and Corrosion in Seawater Desalination (S-007-2009)
978-3-86861-108-3

The seminar has successfully been held in 2007. In close cooperation with the DME member fischer AquaDesalt GmbH DME is going to repeat this seminar in 2009. In view of investment and operating cost it is most important for the erection of desalination plants to choose the right material.
In cooperation with fischer AquaDesalt GmbH, DME – the German Desalination Society – continues its series of advanced seminars with special topics.
Experts present different materials and show how to avoid most of the problems of desalination plants by using the right material. At the end of the presentations the speakers will answer all your questions and discuss with you.
This seminar is primarily aimed at representatives of companies and universities as well as representatives of research and those who want to acquire this special know-how.
