Israel: launch of the project for the largest water desalination plant in the world – Israel

The Sorek 2 project, the largest water desalination plant in the world, is on the starting line, and already seven companies, including four foreign ones, have registered for a preliminary call for tenders to put this ambitious project in place. This plant, which should start operating in eight years, will desalinate 200 million cubic meters of seawater per year. With the other desalination plants already present in the country, Israel will in future be able to produce 85% of its annual drinking water consumption.

CARBONCO Signs an MOU With Saudi Arabia’s SWCC, the World’s Largest Seawater Desalination Institution, for the CCUS Project – Riyadh, KSA

CARBONCO and SWCC have agreed to cooperate on the adoption of CCUS technology, which captures carbon from power plants operated by SWCC and utilizes it in the seawater desalination post-treatment process. Both parties plan to collaborate across the CCUS business development, including commercial CCUS plant construction, based on business feasibility analysis and basic design research for the application of CCUS technology. Furthermore, the two companies will carry out joint research on various CCUS projects which encompass biological and chemical conversion, mineralization, and storage of carbon that are feasible in Saudi Arabia.
