Tender floated for ‘technical advisory’ services for water desalination project in Wadi – Dayaqah – Muscat – Oman




Oman Power and Water Procurement Company (OPWP) on Monday floated an initial tender seeking bids from consultancy firms for providing ‘technical advisory’ services for developing an Independent Water Project (IWP) in Wadi Dayqah (Qurayyat) near Muscat.

The desalination capacity of the project is yet to be determined. OPWP will issue the tender document between August 21 and 31, while the last date for submitting bids will be October 2, according to the tender floated by the state-owned OPWP.

Morocco will build a seawater desalination plant in the Casablanca-Settat region




The feasibility study and the institutional set-up of the project are currently being finalised, Charafate Afailal, secretary of state for water, was quoted as saying in a Morocco World News report. “With increasing demand and insufficient local resources, the only recourse to reduce the deficit in industrial or agricultural drinking water is desalination of seawater,” he said.
