AxarquĂa desalination plant output will be shared equally between agricutural and domestic supply – Spain
The AxarquĂa desalination plant, costing 100 million euros, is set to split its output equally between agriculture and domestic supply. Managed by the state-owned Acuamed, the project advances largely due to user-driven demand rather than governmental speed, with 2028 as the earliest anticipated commissioning date. The Junta de AndalucĂa and VĂ©lez-MĂĄlaga town hall have proposed a site near the coast, though expropriation is required from six landowners. Once operational, the plant will supply 12 cubic hectometres per year each for agricultural and household use, vital for addressing the regionâs ongoing drought challenges.
