Dubai gets Guinness World Record for largest single-site water desalination facility – UAE

Dubai: Dubai Electricity and Water Authority (DEWA) has marked another breakthrough by achieving the Guinness World Records title for the second time for owning and managing the Largest Single-Site Water Desalination Facility in the World with production capacity of 490 million Imperial Gallons of water per Day, which is equivalent to 2,227,587 Cubic Metres per Day.

DEWA partners with Desolenator to build desalination system based on solar thermal energy – Dubai

As per the agreement, a pilot water desalination plant has been installed at the Jebel Ali Power Plant and Desalination Complex, with a production capacity of minimum 1,000 litres of potable water per day. The collaboration is part of DEWA’s participation in the Dubai Future Accelerators (DFA) programme, one of the initiatives under Dubai Future Foundation.  DFA is the largest accelerator programme in the world.

DEWA receives 5 bids for advisory services for IWP desalination project at Hassyan – Dubai

Dubai Electricity and Water Authority (DEWA) has received 5 bids for an advisory services tender for a 120 MIGD (million imperial gallons per day) water desalination project in Hassyan.

DEWA completes 82% of M-Station expansion, Construction on Dubai’s $3.1bn (AED11.5bn) M-Station electricity and desalination plant has reached 82% completion, Dubai Electricity and Water Authority (DEWA) has announced. IDA Conference 2018 in Dubai – UAE – Dubai

Dubai Electricity and Water Authority (DEWA) announced that Dubai will host the International Desalination Association’s 2019 World Congress on water Desalination. Previously, the congress was held in Dubai in 2009.




The conference will be held in 2019, coinciding with the 21st Water, Energy, Technology and Environment Exhibition (WETEX), which will be held under the directives of HH Sheikh Mohammed bin Rashid Al Maktoum, Vice President and Prime Minister of the UAE and Ruler of Dubai, and under the patronage of HH Sheikh Hamdan bin Rashid Al Maktoum, Deputy Ruler of Dubai, Minister of Finance and President of DEWA.

Dubai Electricity and Water Authority (DEWA) has signed a 12-year Operating Plant Service Agreement (OPSA) with Siemens worth $463m (AED1.7bn)




The contract includes providing maintenance, spare parts and gas turbine rehabilitation for the second phase of K-Station at Jebel Ali Power and Desalination Station as well as for the third phase of H-Station at the Al Aweer Power Station.

DEWA has also extended the Long Term Maintenance Plan (LTMP) for seven more years for the second phase of L-Station.
