Saudi Arabia’s state-owned Water and Electricity Company (WEC) is expected to sign the development agreement for its $150 million Rabigh 3 Independent Water Project (IWP), located at Rabigh on the Red Sea coast, in the fourth quarter of 2018, a source told Thomson Reuters Projects.

The project involves the development, financing, procurement, implementation, operation and maintenance of a 600,000 cubic metres (m3)/day reverse osmosis desalination plant expandable to 1,200,000 m3/day, according to an August 2017 press statement posted on WEC’s website.
