South Sinai contemplates introducing water treatment plants operating in the Zero Liquid Discharge (ZLD) system in parallel to adding more desalination plants while improving the efficiency of existing ones.

For that purpose, Chairman of South Sinai Water Company Abdel Hamid Ahmed Hamdy met with Minister of Military Production Mohamed Said al-Assar and CEO of International Desalination and Water Treatment (LLC) (IDWT) Nabil al-Maraghy.

Hamdy said the governorate plans to build a ZLD water treatment plant in Sharm El Sheikh in order to render sewage water suitable for irrigation. The project will be accomplished by the ministry’s Qaha Company for Chemical Industries (Military Factory 270) and IDWT. The daily capacity of the plant is 6,000 cubic meters.
